On the WIP Side – 12.07.19

I hope everyone in the US had a great Thanksgiving! I had a busy week in the agirlandherwool household but certainly appreciated the family time and time away from work. Now it is time I caught you all up on the past couple week’s crafting progress.

Total: 5 WIPs (2 active)
Knitting: 4 projects – 1 Socks, 2 Sweaters, 1 blanket
Spinning: 1 project
Finished: 1 project

These socks are done. I was able to finish these during the holiday in time for the 11/30 deadline. I had a quiet morning before all of the company came where I had a cup of coffee, a book and these socks. Perfection. No real issues with the socks. I knit them two at a time and the stripes ended up one row off. I cast off one a row earlier than the other so that they look the same. I posted a highlight post of these socks, so you can check all of the details by clicking here.

The perfect morning set up

Earnest Cardigan

I finished the first sleeve!!!! Finally. I worked on this a lot during the holiday as the texture in the pattern is easy to follow. I was a busy host and didn’t really sit down too much during the holiday. I did, however, take Monday off of work to have a day to myself. Best decision ever. I was able to (mostly) finish up that sleeve. I think I got about halfway through the cuff. I finished it up Thursday night and when I tried it on, it fit. I might want it a bit longer, but I’m going to see how much it grows when I wash it. I can always rip out the bind off and knit the cuff a little bit longer. Now, the sweater just looks like a very cropped sweater with one very long arm.

Is my arm even that long?
Can you see my leg?

Pavement Sweater

We decided to get ourselves Regal Unlimited during the Black Friday sale. This means I get to go to more meetings. My husband is convinced I only like to go because it is guilt-free knitting time. I mean, duh and also can you blame me???

We saw Harriet last weekend (totally recommend) and I knit a few inches on the body of my sweater. In the picture below, it’s the green marker down to the white marker. Last night, we saw 21 Bridges (filmed right near my office and so I’ve been wanting to go) and I was able to knit a bit more. I knit from the white marker to the bottom. It’s about the same for each movie. For 21 Bridges, I was distracted by looking at the background and seeing restaurants, parking lots and office buildings that I know well. We are headed to the movies again tonight (we have a lot of movies to catch up on before they leave the theater so please refrain from judging). I’ll be bringing this sweater again. At this rate, I might actually be able to add it to my 2019 list, but we’ll see.

Overall, just a stockinette tube. I’m going to love it once it’s finally done. I do love the extra tweedy bits that make the sweater just that much more fun. I am alternating skeins using the helical method and don’t have any issues doing that at the movies.

#progress

Inactive WIPs – mostly the same as last time.
1. Gnome Zombie Socks – These will be finished before the end of the year. Probably during my Christmas break.
2. Northeasterly – I’m making some progress here, but I’ll call it inactive because it’s not much. I’ll include it next week.
2. Spinning – Niagara Falls – I need to get back into spinning 3x per week. This will be an active WIP next week. In the meantime, check out my project highlight on how I chose to spin this project.

What’s next?
1. Sleeve 2 for my Earnest. I mean, this shouldn’t be taking that long.
2. DVD socks for December
3. I saw this awesome pattern on Ravelry and I have to make it. This is going to happen. Soon. Now. What am I still sitting here for.

Let me know how you’re knitting is going!
