On the WIP Side – 3.5.2020

Another Wednesday Thursdayhere, which means it’s time to air out the WIPs. I’ve been pretty monogamous and finishing up projects, so I’m hoping to have a project planning post for you soon! Oops, didn’t finish this up yesterday, so it’s going up now. Definitely check out my YouTube channel to see any projects “in person.”

Strawberry Little Thun – Finished

Needles: Size 5
Cast on: 2/23/2020
Cast off goal: 3/1/2020

I finished this little sweater. Knitting baby sweaters in DK weight yarn go fast. I’ll be having a vlog on my youtube channel with a more progress photo. It’ll also have a dedicated FO Friday post as well so I’ll try and keep this brief. Overall, the pattern is a fairly simple raglan sweater with some fun striping. I love the colors I chose and I think the sweater does a good job showing off each color individually and as a pair.

I did finish the body on Saturday night and brought the project with me to my Sit and Stitch on Sunday. The pattern wasn’t clear on whether you should switch to a smaller needle for the hem and so I chose not to out of laziness. I decided that it looked a little sloppy and wanted to redo it. I guess it’s a good practice to just always go down a needle size for the hem, but when do we really learn these lessons? I spent the first part of the Sit and Stitch ripping out and redoing the hem. I then knit the two sleeves that day as well and finished the sweater! The ends were woven in yesterday during #WeaveItInWednesday. Now it just needs a blocked and some photos. I recommend knitting this pattern if you want a quick baby knit or gift!

Graffiti 103 Hat – NEW
Pattern: 103 Hat / Jennifer Lassonde / BostonJen
Yarn: agirlandherwool / DK / Graffiti
Needles: Size 4 (hem – see I learn) and Size 6 (body)
Gauge: IDK
Cast on: 3/5/2020

That’s right. I hope to cast this off in just a few days. I’ve been pretty monogamous and a hat in a 4 day period seems reasonable? Am I crazy??

This hat is a simple but interesting patten. The brim of the hat is slightly different from a regular ribbing, which is pretty fun. THe pattern itself is just a couple of knit rows and them some patterning. I think it’ll go quick but show off the yarn pretty well. Having a dark hat like this is nice because I have some lighter hats. It’ll also be a good shop sample as well. I do have skeins of this yarn in DK if you want to join me or on the sock base if you like the colorway for another project. Check it out!

I cast this hat on during my lunch break today and finished the brim there. I did about 1 repeat of the pattern and then a little bit more of the trip home. Nothing really to report here, but it’s fun to have these smaller, quick projects that make me feel really productive? Do you ever find that with a lot of larger projects, you get a little burnt out? I’m really finding my groove again with the constant changing of projects.

Inactive
1. Neat Ripple – This is on hold until I finish up the charity items with the colors that I have used so far.
2. Spinning – Same as last week – this isn’t technically inactive anymore. I did spin one day last week. I actually recorded a vlog about this project that I hope to edit and post soon. I’ll also plan to post a blog here in the same regard for those who prefer blogs.
3. Escarpment cowl. This is my sit and stitch project, but I really wanted to finish working on the Little Thun sweater this week instead.
3. Northeasterly. I’ve been tired.

What’s Next?
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! What is next you ask? So i’m working through the 103 hat for now. I also want to knit the two color Joji socks. Interestingly, that’s really what they are called (minus the Joji part). After that, I’ll be doing the shiftalong hat by Andrea Mowry. Those two will round up the shop samples for now. More details on all of these samples coming soon.
After shop samples, I want to knit the sock arms sweater, Drachenfels shawl and some socks. Yes socks. Can you believe it?

Shop
The shop is full of lots of fun ready to ship skeins. Check it out here. There are some great kits for shawls and socks along with good pairings for sweaters. Let me know if you need help with some color selections.
There will be a lot of fun announcements coming soon. Keep an eye out for the details.
