On the WIP Side 12.20.19

I’m working on generally the same projects, but I have started to break through and make some noticeable differences. The best part is that I’m on break from work until the New Year and so I’m anticipating a lot more progress. (See my previous post about the infamous Friday-Lauren. Gosh I never learn.)

Ummm, pink anyone?

It’s the last month of the 2019 Desert Vista Dyeworks monthly sock club. No clue how that happened. It’s a little sentimental to cast on these socks, but honestly, I have a ton of leftovers and some prizes from the knit a long and so there will be plenty more in my future. In fact, my husband’s father requested a pair and so I’ll be knitting him a pair in the new year.
These new socks are for me. They are pink stripes alternating with speckled stripes. I do enjoy the zombie colorways that she offers. I picked the Oh Hello sock pattern from my library. I believe I got this pattern when it was being offered for free. I’m only using the stitch pattern as I do my own foot construction and a fish lips kiss heel. I do think the stitch pattern is the same as a blueberry waffle pattern (but I didn’t check to confirm) which was a little disappointing as I was specifically looking to not knit those again. I love the pattern, but there are so many out there that I want to keep trying new ones. Anyway, I could have ripped it back, but I’m happy with it and so I kept going.
Just today I knit the heels on the sock. I knit them toe up and so I just have the legs and cuff left to go on both socks. I’ll only do the stitch pattern on the front as it is a form of ribbing and I don’t want the socks too stretched out.
For those into the details, I knit my socks with 52 stitches around. About an inch before the heel, I increase this to 56 and then decrease it back to 52 an inch after the heel. I find this fits best for me!

Earnest Cardigan
Pattern: Earnest / Joji Locatelli
Yarn: agirlandherwool / Rose Tea / Sock
Needles: Size 3 (body and cuffs) / Size 4 (sleeves)
Gauge: 24 st per 4 in on size 4 needles.
Cast on: 10/30/2019
Cast off goal: 12/31/2019

When I last posted, I had just finished the first sleeve. Well folks, I’ve also now finished the second sleeve! Woohoo. Onto the rest of the body. I’ve knit a couple of inches into that as well. Honestly, there’s not much more to add here than I’ve already said about this. I am hoping to finish this during my vacation, but I think that’s wishful thinking. It will most definitely be the focus of my knitting over the next couple of weeks so we’ll see. I also do need to finish the DVD socks before the end of the month.

Pavement Sweater
Pattern: Pavement / Veera Valimaki
Yarn: Once Upon a Corgi / Rodney / Aeron (tweed)

Gauge: 20 st per 4 in on size 6 needle
Cast on: 10/23/2019
Cast off goal: None

As I’ve mentioned before, we started going to the movies. A lot. We got an unlimited plan and apparently decided we needed to make the money back in the first month. The good thing is that it means my Pavement sweater has most certainly grown. In this next picture, I’m trying to show specific progress at the movies.
The top to middle stitch marker would have been during Ford v Ferrari. The middle to the bottom one would have been Queen and Slim. The bottom to the end would have been from Dark Waters. In total, I’m about 8.5 inches from the armholes, which is great progress! That has all been from various movies over the past few weeks. I don’t knit on it at any other time.

A good amount each time.

(In)active WIPs – mostly the same as last time.
1. Gnome Zombie Socks – These will be finished before the end of the year. Probably during my Christmas break. Again. The plans are out of control.
2. Northeasterly – I’m making some progress here and so it’s definitely active. I plan to do a longer post about it this week and so I’ll leave it at that for now.
2. Spinning – Niagara Falls – This is an active WIP, I’m just so slow, it’s not worth showing progress. I’ll highlight it when I finish the first half of the braid.

What’s next? – Holiday knitting plans
1. Finish DVD Socks
2. Finish Gnome Zombie socks
3. Finish Earnest (hahahahahaha)
4. Start my scrappy crochet blanket and rip out the Cozy Memories. See my first post.

Shop – Really quick reminder that all orders will ship after New Years at this point. Enjoy your holiday season!
